WELLINGTON NIPS
BRAYMER
The Braymer
Bobcats basketball team traveled to Wellington Friday night for
their regular season finale and a chance to take on the undefeated
and #2 state ranked Class 2 Tigers,
Wellington's
guards, led by hot shooting point Kent Hendrix who knocked down 5
treys in the first half, gave the Tigers a 7 point lead at
intermission. Braymer's post combination of Clayton Brown, James
Schreier and Brandon Taylor dominated play in the paint and kept the
Bobcats close.
The third
quarter belonged to the Braymer big men and they entered the final
frame with a chance to win the ballgame. The Bobcats took the lead
late in the 4th quarter and actually pushed the margin to 5 points
before Wellington/Napolean came rushing back. A 3 pointer and a
steal that led to another quick basket tied the game, and when
Wellington took the lead moments later and began a delay game,
Braymer was forced to foul. The Tigers hit their free throws and
went on to win a 66-60 game that was much closer than the final
score indicated.[Read More]

Hamilton Hornets top
GRC, remain undefeated
Undefeated was
the manner in which the Hamilton Hornets finished their regular
season last week with a 71-45 victory over the Stanberry Bulldogs on
Tuesday, Feb. 23 and an 81-27 win over North Platte on Thursday,
Feb. 25.
The victory over
Stanberry assured the Hornets of sole possession of the Grand River
Conference championship. Stanberry attached the Hornets with
tenacity, but they could not halt the Hornets high speed offense and
intense defensive play. Dylan Chadwick led the Hornets with 15
points which included one of the team’s three 3-pointers. Josh
Pickrell followed with 13 points which included one dunk that wowed
the Hamilton crowd. Trevor Dixon contributed ten points, Brandon
Hemry eight, Keagan Prather six, Jordan Richman five, Eli Kipp five,
TJ Schieber four, Andrew Straker three, and Cody Blakley two. Kipp
and Straker made the team’s remaining 3-pointers. Prather and
Richman each had three assists to lead while Schieber led with 10
