Waneta Marguerite Lungren

Waneta Marguerite Lungren went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009.

Waneta was born on Feb. 11, 1919 to Hobart and Lina (Johnson) Feese. She was the loving wife of Woodward Lungren. She was the mother of six children, Lina Miller (Norman), Anna Jones (George), Mary Stone (Ronald), Nelson Lungren, Marguerite Ogden (Richard), Edward Lungren (Kathy). She considered her greatest achievement to be devoting 100% of herself to raising her children. She is the grandmother to eight grandchildren, Lorena Pryor (Rusty), Jay Miller, Amanda Sanders (Daniel), Amelia Allen (Tim), Andrew and Anthony Ogden, Hillary and Jared Lungren, and great-grandmother to six lovely great-granddaughters, Lily, Mellody, Sheila, Julie, Cora Pryor and Sophia Ogden. Her sister and brothers are Dora Alice Michael (Alan), Leland Feese, Lavere Feese (Nelda), Berkley Feese, Troy Feese (Carolyn), and Frank Feese. Over the years, she acquired many truly wonderful friends, “for friendship is a precious gift that cannot be bought or sold, but to have an understanding friend is worth far more than gold”

Waneta lived her entire life in the Braymer, Stet, Bosworth, and Breckenridge communities prior to going to the Licking Park Manor in July, 2005.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hobart and Lina Feese, her parents-in-law, Oscar and Lottie Lungren, a daughter, Lina Miller, two brothers, Leland and Berkley Feese and two brothers-in-law, Maurice and Donald Lungren.

As a member of the Breckenridge Methodist Church, she was a woman of great faith and took pride in participating in many religious activities. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She and Woodward faithfully attended Sunday school and church. She dearly loved her amazing church family.

Waneta believed passionately about the importance of education. She loved to read books. She taught math and science for over 29 years. Even after she retired, she continued as a substitute teacher. The “best teachers” do more than instruct; they encourage and inspire their students to be all that they can be. She led by example, always doing the right thing.

She was a loving parent. She enjoyed gardening, loved to cook (her home was filled with the aroma of fresh baked bread). She was a very hard worker. She had a kind heart, enjoyed family reunions, and she volunteered in her community. She was the Breckenridge correspondent for the Chillicothe Constitution Tribune and Hamilton Advocate for over 15 years. She will always be remembered for her energy, love of life and spirited attitude.

Even though she would have preferred to be in her own home, she appreciated all of the help she received at the Licking Park Manor. She could not have gotten along without you. Thank you very much!

The visitation and service were held Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Methodist Church in Breckenridge. Any contributions in Waneta’s memory can be made toward the purchase of books for the Breckenridge R-1 school library.

She will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Thank you Mom, You were the best! She was a very special lady and we will cherish those happy memories of her always.

Mary Jean Null

Mary Jean Null was born June 21, 1922 in a farm home five miles northeast of Braymer. She left this world to be with her Lord Jesus on August 11, 2009 at the age of 87 years.

She was a resident of the Golden Age Nursing Home. She was the youngest of seven children born to the union of Daniel Hill and Bessie (Semler) Hill. Mary Jean was united in marriage to the love of her life, Glenn M. Null, on Feb. 1, 1941. To this union was born four sons.

In the early years Mary Jean and Glenn made their home on various farms in Ray, Carroll and Caldwell County. At one point they operated the general store at Plymouth. There were tenant farmers until 1955 when they purchased the Bunk Griffin farm five miles north of Braymer, which they named Hilltop Farm. There they milked Jersey cows; produced Landrace hogs and raised their four sons. Son Roger remembers that the captive confinement of the milking parlor was a primary point of wisdom exchanged between mother and sons. Later in life Mary Jean and Glenn enlarged their farmland holdings and built a new home on Route A near the homeplace.

As a young wife and mother Mary Jean enjoyed Saturday night visiting in Braymer. She did a lot of creative sewing and her boys attended school decorated with wonderfully tailored shirts of her own design. She was involved in the Cheerful Workers Community Club, the Golden Girls at the nursing home and she especially enjoyed being a Red Hatter in later life.

Family was always important to Jean so she spent a lot of time visiting them. Since she had lost both of her parents in her youth, Glenn’s parents, Earl and Nelle Null, became like mother and father to her.

Following retirement, Mary Jean and Glenn enjoyed antiquing, traveling and activities at the Senior Center in Braymer. When Glenn’s health gave out and when Mary Jean was no longer able to care for him at home, she attempted to aid in his daily care until his passing at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer on March 16, 2002.

Mary Jean loved to draw. In the last years of her life she drew the pictures on many homemade greeting cards, which she shared with family and friends. She loved to make other people happy. Several of her friends in Braymer would be surprised with a rose or carnation from the flower shop on Valentine’s Day.

Mary Jean was simply known as Jean or Aunt Jean to her family and closest friends. Aa a small girl she was baptized and became a member of the McBee Chapel. Later she attended the Proctorville Methodist Church and the Braymer Baptist Church. She loved the Lord Jesus and believed that prayers made in His name would be answered.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; her parents, Daniel and Bessie; grandson, Kevin Null of Springfield, MO; siblings, Dorothy Braymer, Bertha Gibson, Lorena Fitzwater Evans, Robert Lee Hill, Niles Edward Hill and Marguerite Pollard; brothers-in-law, Ralph Null, George Braymer, Arville Gibson, Tom Evans and Milt Pollard; and sister-in-law, Ethlyn Hill; nephews, Dale Fitzwater and Ronnie Null; and nieces Mary Margret Feese and Delores Prewitt.

Surviving family members include sons and spouses– Donald and Lois Null of Denver, MO, Gary and Janet Null of Springfield, MO, Roger and Beverly Null of Breckenridge, MO and Rick and Joyce Null of Braymer, MO. Surviving grand and great-grandchildren are Theran, Cindy, Ashley, Travis, and Lauren Null of Denver, MO, Bobby and Megan  Combs of St. Joseph, MO, TJ McManus of Columbia, MO, Phillip, Kathy and Alexandria Null of Savannah, MO, Traci, Kyle, Lindsey and Emma Bjork of Syracuse, NE, Jared, Niki, Jade and Gale of Eagle Rock, MO, Staci, Kenneth, Kendra, Tyler, Kaylea and Katie Wood of Norborne, MO, Shane, Ronda, Daniel and Garrett Null of Belton, MO, Brandi, Frank, Connor Michael, Rylee Jo, Kali  Rei Lin Sun, Kansas City, MO and Michael Null. Nieces Carol Frazer, Lois Cox, Virginia Owen, Vera May Garraway, Peggy Mustang, Connie Deceicco, Kathy Null; nephew Randy Null; sister-in-law, Irene Null; numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
